Rules & Regulations
- The Committee shall consist of the Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Press Officer, IT Officer, 3 x Rider Representatives (Male, Female and Youth), who shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting. Commissaire coordinator, Vice Chairperson, Results Secretary, Events Coordinator, Assistant IT and positions deemed necessary shall be appointed by the committee.
- The Western Cyclo Cross Annual General Meeting shall be held at such a time so that changes from the National Cyclo Cross Commission can be incorporated into Western Cyclo Cross and that the proposals for changes to Western Cyclo Cross can be considered, and if appropriate agreed upon, so that the next seasons fixture process can be commenced in time for the calendar deadline of the first week in May.
- Western Cyclo Cross League Registration fees are set at £0.00. Registration shall be by completion of the Registration Form. The closing date being the seven days before the first league race.
- Registration will allow one vote at the Annual General Meeting provided the registered party was over the age of 16 at the start of the season. (The League Officers can only vote as individually affiliated Members).
- Western Race Levies – Youth – £0.30 per race Juniors, Under 23’s, Seniors, Veterans and Women – £0.50 per race BC Levies will be added at the appropriate rates.
- The Rules of Cyclo Cross as prescribed by British Cycling will be followed by the Western Cyclo Cross League and competitors racing in League events.
- All Western events held between the 1st September and the end of February will count towards Western League points, the exception being evening races and if there is an event on the Saturday and Sunday of the same weekend, in this case only the Sunday event will count.
- The number of point scoring counting events for an individuals or teams score in the Western League will be 50% of all the counting Western League events plus 2 more rides (rounded up to the next whole number).
- Upon approval of the Western Committee, counting events can be held outside the geographical boundaries of the Western Region as defined by British Cycling.
- Event Organisers are to pay the Commissaire according to British Cycling guide lines towards their expenses, acceptance rests with the Commissaire.
- All event organisers must provide toilet facilities at their event. These must be easily accessible and at a minimum allow marshal/commissaire/lap scorer use between races.
- Event Organisers to forward to the: a) League Secretary: A copy of the results sheet within three days of their event. b) Treasurer: The Signing On Sheets, Levy Form, Levies and Commissaire Report within fourteen days of their event. (For major events the BC Appointed Commissaire will take the Commissaire Report).
- The Commissaire will be neutral and will be appointed by the Commissaire coordinator, the Commissaire has the right to alter the course to ensure that it complies with the BC Cyclo Cross Rules and that it is safe.
- Gridding will be based on League rolling average points. Riders from outside the league shall be gridded no higher than the 3rd row (17th place).
- All events will be started by the Commissaire.
- The Prize Presentation (Podium) shall take place immediately after the race. Podiums will take place for the following categories subject to there being at least one competitor.

- Rules of special note from the BC Cyclo Cross Rules are –
All events to be started with a rider’s grid, maximum 8 riders wide. All courses will have a bike pit changing area; bike changing will only take place in these pits. Riders wishing to access the pits during racing can only do so by following the route of the course (cutting across the course or riding against the route of the course is not allowed). All courses to be constructed in accordance with the BC Cyclo Cross rules, due note should be taken of course widths, obstacles, steps and starting area. No drinks or food are to be handed up during the race (you can start the race with a drinks bottle in a cage, but you cannot throw it down during the race). Prizes, both numbers and value, for each Category to be adhered to.

Only Western League affiliated riders score points, therefore if the winner is a non-affiliated rider then the 50 points go to the first finishing Western League affiliated rider.
A Team prize will be given for a team of 3 riders, the three riders final points totals are added together. Riders must race under the Team name that they are affiliated to for Cyclo Cross as notified to BC. What happens if people change team halfway through the year? Do we need to say ‘at registration’?
The Vet team will be a combination of the V40, V50 and V60+.
Vet60+/Vet50 can ride the Vet40/Senior/U23/Junior races but will only score Senior Points. (It should be noted that BC Ranking Points will not be available for Veterans riding in Senior Races if there is a separate Veterans race on the race programme for the day).
Youth Boys, Youth Girls and Junior Women will not be allowed to ride the Seniors/Under 23/Jun Men’s Race, unless dispensation is granted by BC.

All Leagues Categories
In the event of a tie the rider with the most number of wins throughout the season will be declared the overall winner.
In the event of the number of win’s being tied then the number of second place finishes will be considered followed by the number of third places…. Until a winner is determined.
Average points will be awarded to – Riders who Organise, Lap Score, Commissaire or assist in any of these positions for a maximum of four events in any one Season.
Average points will be awarded to – Riders who complete the regional championship.
Or, some other special circumstances that are agreed upon by the Committee.
Under 12 / Under 10 / Under 8 Boys and Girls
As directed by British Cycling, the emphasis of races in these categories are participation rather than competition.
Certificates will be awarded for participation.
